Details
An independent report by the DfE-appointed Commissioner for Children’s Services in Bromley recommended that the council be allowed to retain control of the delivery of children’s social care services subject to a 6-month review of progress.
The report of that progress review recommends that the council retain control of the services.
The commissioner was appointed following a report by Ofsted that judged the overall effectiveness of those services to be inadequate.
The revised direction required the chair of the council’s improvement board to provide the Secretary of State with quarterly update reports on the council’s ongoing improvement work. It replaced the earlier statutory direction issued to the council in November 2016.
This direction was lifted on 7 January 2019. It follows a re-inspection by Ofsted in which services were judged as ‘good’.
