Distributional analysis looks at how a policy programme or funding decision may have different effects on different groups within society.

This research provides an audit of the code and methodology used to calculate distributional impacts within transport analysis guidance (TAG) appraisal. The audit is done in 3 parts:

This research was undertaken by Arup and the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds on behalf of DfT.

TAG provides information on the role of transport modelling and appraisal, and how the transport appraisal process supports the development of investment decisions to support a business case.
