Details

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and the European Commission have formally agreed and adopted the European Regional Development Fund operational programme. The document together with an executive summary and supporting annexes are available above.

The European Regional Development Fund Operational Programme is the main document for setting out the strategy and priorities for use of the fund to support the Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. It also contains high level information on how the fund will be delivered, managed and evaluated.

Research and innovation projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund need to fit with Smart Specialisation in England which provides a strategic framework for investments in areas of comparative advantage.

The ERDF programme continues to invest in projects after the transition period ended on 31 December 2020. All funding must finish by the end of 2023.

European Structural and Investment Funds includes money from the European Social Fund, European Regional Development Fund and part of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The funds are from the European Union for projects that create jobs and economic growth.
