Applies to England
Documents
Details
The guidance is for:
* local authorities
* early years providers
* schools
It relates to all local authorities that fund early years provision in England.
We are providing £34 million in additional funding to local authorities in 2024 to 2025 to support early years providers with their costs, following the recent teacher pay award. This funding is part of the almost £1.2 billion announced by the department following confirmation of the 2024 teachers’ pay award.
We are distributing additional funding for early years providers through a new grant, the early years budget grant (EYBG), in 2024 to 2025. This covers September 2024 to March 2025.
Methodology and operational guidance
The EYBG methodology and operational guidance explains how we have calculated EYBG rates, and how we distribute funding to local authorities. We have published step-by-step tables to support this guidance.
Conditions of grant
EYBG is to support early years providers who are delivering the government’s early years entitlements with their costs, following the recent teacher pay award, for the period September 2024 to March 2025. EYBG is subject to conditions of grant.
Allocations
We have published EYBG allocations for each local authority for the period September 2024 to March 2025. We will make the single payment for EYBG on 29 November 2024.
