Details

The Electoral Commission has produced new performance standards for Returning Officers and updated performance standards for Electoral Registration Officers. This is in accordance with section 9A of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 which gives the Electoral Commission powers to set and monitor performance standards for electoral services. Under section 9A, the government has laid the standards before Parliament.

The standards form a key part of the Electoral Commission’s guidance and support package for electoral administrators. They are used to help them with planning for and delivering well-run elections across Great Britain.
