Data source for enterovirus typing data
The national reference laboratory at UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Colindale, the Enteric Virus Unit (EVU), asks local diagnostic laboratories to forward samples in which enterovirus RNA has been detected, for the purposes of national enhanced enterovirus surveillance.
Samples received are unselected and consist of faecal, CSF, respiratory, blood, skin swab and tissue samples, from patients with a variety of clinical presentations and differing severities of illness.
The majority of samples are received from laboratories located within England.
