This document presents the findings from the second year of the longer semi-trailer trial.

Background to the longer semi-trailer trial

The longer semi-trailer trial was launched in 2012 following the government’s Logistics growth review. It is anticipated that the 10 year trial will save 3000 tonnes of carbon emissions and £33 million savings to operators. A total of 1800 longer semi-trailers has been allocated to 130 operators and to date, just over 1000 longer semi-trailers are either on the road or in build.
