Every child matters is statutory guidance on how UK Visas and Immigration are making arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

This statutory guidance has been issued jointly by the Home Office and the Department for Children, Schools and Families under section 55 (3) and 55 (5) of the Act to accompany this duty.

Section 55 of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009 came into force on 2 November 2009. It requires the UK Visas and Immigration to make arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in discharging its immigration, nationality and general customs functions.
