Details

A report commissioned by the Department for Transport (DfT) and undertaken by SYSTRA consultants on the experience of goods vehicle operators when completing one of the DfT road freight surveys, the Continuing Survey of Road Goods Transport (CSRGT).

The DfT continually seeks to improve the quality of information collected for statistical purposes and, where possible, decrease the burden on respondents who, in the case of road freight statistics, are goods vehicle operators who provide information via the DfT via a road freight survey.

With this intention DfT commissioned SYSTRA to assess the ‘fitness-for-purpose’ of the existing survey by reviewing the questionnaire content and respondent ‘experience’. The report also explores the potential for respondents to provide information electronically allowing the department to move away from a paper based survey.
