One of the biggest drivers of the gender pay gap is that women tend to spend more time out of the labour market and work part-time, often due to caring responsibilities. Family friendly policies such as flexible working, enhanced parental leave, and additional childcare provision, enable more equal sharing of work and childcare between men and women so that both can fulfil their potential at work. Family Friendly Policies are also good for business, helping to attract and retain talent and improve productivity.

The infographic posters set out the evidence-based high level actions employers can take to improve their family friendly policies to help to close the gender pay gap and to increase gender equality in the workplace.

The action note sets out in more detail how employers can improve their family friend policies to help to close the gender pay gap and increase gender equality in the workplace.

The evidence for the actions in this report comes from the academic research contributed to the family friendly policies theme of the Workplace and Gender Equality (WAGE) Research Programme. For detailed sources, please contact [email protected]
