Details

The UK benefits from immigration but not from uncontrolled immigration. The government is committed to reforming all immigration routes to the UK to reduce net migration back to sustainable levels: tens of thousands a year.

The goal is a more selective, more responsive system that commands public confidence and serves the UK‟s economic interests.

We have made major reforms to the economic routes: skilled work, study and settlement from work. We now need to turn to the family route: those seeking to settle in the UK as the non-EEA partner of a sponsor who is a British citizen or a person settled here or as the dependant of the migrant partner.
