Details
You are legally required to notify the Forestry Commission if you plan to import firewood into England and Scotland.
Before submitting your notification you should enrol on the statutory firewood notification scheme first.
You need to complete one notification form for each firewood consignment you want to import.
Fill out the online form and submit it electronically – you will be sent a unique reference number for future communication.

Notes on the form
Date of arrival (in England or Scotland)
This is the estimated date that the consignment is landing at a port, airport or Channel Tunnel terminus.
Place of arrival (in England or Scotland)
Enter the final port, airport or Channel Tunnel terminus that the wood is arriving at. If could be an inspection location if one was carried out.
Be as specific as possible as some ports cover a number of locations. For example, Humber covers Hull, Immingham, Grimsby and Goole.
Name of supplier
This is the exporter.
Address of first destination after landing
This is the first onward destination after the consignment has landed in England or Scotland.
It could be a distribution centre or a final destination for the consignment, depending on the importer’s requirements.
Country where the wood was imported from
This is the country that the firewood was last moved from. This is not necessarily the country where the firewood was grown.
Country where the wood was grown
This is the country where the wood was originally grown and harvested.
Phytosanitary treatments
Enter details of any plant health (phytosanitary) treatments which might have been applied to the firewood before export. Or to associated wood packaging material, if present.
These treatments are carried out to comply with ISPM15 requirements for non-EU (third) country and certain EU country imports.
