1. The variation effective from 00:01hrs Wednesday 01 January 2025 is as follows:
1.1 10m & Under Non-Sector Limited Licences – permanent removal of the licence cap
- Affecting under 10m Cat A Limited licences (94/99)
The cap limiting 9499 licence holders to catching no more than 350kg of quota species per year will be permanently removed as of 00:01hrs 01 January 2025.
1.2 Western Waters Scallop Effort days set for Q1
- Affecting Licence Schedules for Category A (11), Category A Islands (12), Category A Pelagic (17), Category B (31) and Category C (41)
Western Water scallop days at sea now set to 70 days for Q1 (00:01 hrs 01 January – 23:59 31 March 2025)
1.3 Western Waters Crab Effort days set
- Affecting Licence Schedules for Category A (11), Category A Islands (12), Category A Pelagic (17), Category B (31) and Category C (41)
Western Water Crab days at sea now set to 160 days (00:01 hrs 01 January – 23:59 31 December 2025)

1.10 Changes to Bass limits
- Affecting licence schedules for Over 10m categories A (11), A (Islands) (12), A (Pelagic) (17), B (31), and C (41), and 10m & Under categories A (91) and A (Limited) (94)
- The commercial trawl/seine bycatch limits remain at 3.8 tonnes per vessel per year, but the bass per trip limit increases from 5% to 10%
- The hooks and lines catch limits increase from 6.2 to 6.8 tonnes per vessel per year;
- The fixed gillnet bycatch limits increase from 1.6 to 1.8 tonnes per vessel per year.
