Update 14 June 2023: closing date extended

We have made changes to the Scheme Allocation and corresponding changes to Essential Project Criteria - C3. As a result of these changes, we have extended the scheme closing date to 11:59pm (UK BST) on Sunday 27 August 2023.

We have revised the guidance and application forms to reflect the changes.

The government announced up to £160 million in grant funding for certain investments in the floating offshore wind sector. The Floating Offshore Wind Manufacturing Investment Scheme (FLOWMIS) was established to distribute the funding to support critical port infrastructure that will enable the delivery of floating offshore wind.

The potential benefits to the UK economy include:

  • enabling the delivery of our 5GW 2030 deployment ambition by securing additional suitable port capacity necessary to scale up and accelerate floating offshore wind deployment in the UK
  • increasing capability in the UK floating offshore wind supply chain, driving cost reduction and the commercialisation of floating offshore wind technology
  • delivering industrial growth and associated regional economic and social benefits (for example, quality jobs and increased GVA)
  • contributing to our target to achieve net zero by 2050

The guidance outlines the process through which we will distribute scheme funding. It details:

  • how the scheme will work
  • the eligibility criteria
  • how to apply
  • how applications will be assessed
  • how funding will ultimately be distributed (by way of Grant Funding Agreements), including the contractual arrangements
  • how successful projects will report progress
