Mediation Information Assessment Meeting (MIAM)

It is a legal requirement to attend a MIAM before you apply to the family court (unless you have a valid exemption). You can attend a MIAM either in person or online.  

A MIAM is a meeting with an authorised family mediation to find out more about: 

  • mediation 
  • other options to resolve your dispute without needing to go to court

How to apply

Apply online to avoid delay. 

If you are unable to apply online, send a c100 paper application to your child’s local family court. Find your child’s local family court’s contact details 

If sending your application by post, you must provide 3 copies of each document.

You can also use this form to apply to vary or discharge an order. Some people need permission from the court to make an application for an order. You can apply for permission by completing the relevant section of the form.  

Send your application to the designated family centre for your area. You can find your closest family centre.
