This document provides background evidence for the ‘Fuller Working Lives: a partnership approach’ policy paper.

Evidence is presented on the main factors associated with people working later in life, such as health, caring responsibilities and relevant skills. The report also presents what we know about the attitudes of both employers and individuals towards working later in life.

This analysis will inform evidence-backed policies that intend to support individuals aged 50 years and over to remain in and return to the labour market.

The following Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) research reports contribute to Fuller Working Lives: evidence base 2017:

In July 2016, DWP published a new experimental official statistic on the Economic labour market status of individuals aged 50 and over since 1984.
