Details

To protect human health, the environment and ensure consumer choice, there is strict legislation controlling the deliberate release into the environment of GMOs.

In England, approval for the release of GMOs not intended for use as food or feed are granted by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. This list includes genetically modified organisms currently approved for marketing in England.
