Paying your fee
You must pay online when you submit your application.
You cannot pay at the CSRO.
2. Collect your documents
UK visa applications submitted in Gibraltar are sent (by secure internal government mail) to the UK Visa Section in Croydon, London, for processing. As a result of the additional transit times to and from the UK, visa applications take up to 4 weeks minimum to process from submission to collection. Applicants should be aware that they will not have access to their passport during this time.
Once a decision has been made on your application and your documents have been returned to Gibraltar, you will be contacted by staff at the CSRO. You can then collect your documents and (if your application was successful) your visa from the CSRO where you made your application. You will need to bring your receipt.
A nominated person can collect your documents on your behalf. They will need to provide an authorisation letter signed by you, your receipt and proof of their identity.
If you are collecting a visa, you should check, before leaving that it:
- contains your correct personal details
- correctly states the purpose for which you want to come to the UK
- is valid for the date when you want to travel
If you think there is anything wrong with your visa, speak to staff in the CSRO immediately.
3. Urgent and compassionate cases
If the reason for travelling to the UK is a genuine emergency and you cannot wait 4 weeks for your visa, you should contact the CSRO to discuss alternative application arrangements. You will need to provide evidence of the emergency circumstances surrounding your visit (eg hospital appointment letter).
We only accept applications as urgent and compassionate in the following circumstances:
- serious illness or death of an immediate family member (the applicant’s mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, son or daughter)
- emergency medical treatment which includes people who need to travel with you for support (for example, a parent caring for an ill child)
