Details

As part of efforts to make sure that we learned all we could from the Macondo Oil Well disaster the government appointed Geoffrey Maitland, Professor of Energy Engineering at Imperial College London, to chair an independent review panel to consider the findings from official Macondo reports and their relevance to the oil and gas industry in the UK. This document is the UK government’s response to the review findings and recommendations.

Update to government response

The government response to the Maitland Review, which was published in December 2012, confirmed that the majority of the recommendations from the review had been implemented in full. However, at the time of publication, some of the work was on-going and where that was the case, work plans with appropriate dates for completion were put in place and detailed in the response. This update, which is intended to be read in conjunction with both the review and the government response, details the work that has been taken forward over the course of the last year.
