On 1 April 2016 the Communities and Local Government Committee of the House of Commons issued a report on a DCLG consultation proposing improvements to national planning policy. The consultation ran from December 2015 to February 2016, and topics included:

  • broadening the definition of affordable housing
  • sustainable new settlements, development on brownfield land and small sites
  • supporting delivery of starter homes and housing agreed in Local Plans

The Committee made 24 recommendations. This is the government’s response, to be taken in conjunction with the housing white paper and its other associated documents.
