Details

This paper sets out our response to the Transport Select Committee’s ninth report of session 2009 to 2010 on mobility scooters.

We welcome the committee’s report at a time when we are consulting on our proposals for changing the laws governing powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters (termed “invalid carriages” in law).

We acknowledge that the committee did not have the opportunity to publish a definitive report, but appreciate the recommendations of the committee and the evidence given at the inquiry. We will analyse this information along with responses to our consultation and will use both when deciding whether to proceed with any reforms.
