Details

The Department of Communities and Local Government and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport have issued a joint circular letter informing building control bodies that the Institution of Structural Engineers has published a document entitled ‘Dynamic performance requirements for permanent grandstands subject to crowd action: recommendations for management, design and assessment’.

The publication provides guidance for those specifying, commissioning and operating grandstands that may be subject to dynamic actions due to various crowd activities, and replaces previous published guidance by the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2001 and 2002.

Building control bodies are encouraged to draw the publication to the attention of those responsible for the development and design of new grandstands and to those responsible for managing existing grandstands.

This publication can be purchased from the Institution of Structural Engineers website.
