In 2012, the incidence rate of acute hepatitis B in London was 2.02 per 100,000 population, which is twice the national rate (England rate 1.04 per 100,000) and much higher than that seen in any other region. In 2012 there were 155 reports of acute hepatitis B in London, similar to the 160 seen in 2011. The highest rates of acute hepatitis B infection were in Newham, Islington, Lambeth and Brent.
