Details

This research set out to explore a range of higher priced electronic toys costing to assess their compliance with the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances (RoHS) and batteries and accumulators legislation.

A total of 15 different higher priced electronic toys were purchased, selected under 5 different categories:

  1. educational
  2. outdoor
  3. musical
  4. 0 to 3 years
  5. 3+ years

These were each selected across 3 different price ranges allowing for analysis of where the greatest risk may lie within the market.

Of the 15 products that were tested for compliance levels to RoHS and batteries legislation, 40% failed.
