Details

As part of its wider research into heat decarbonisation, BEIS contracted Element Energy to lead the creation of a dataset of techno-economic assumptions around the infrastructure requirements and associated costs of converting heating and industrial applications to hydrogen.

This document is an evidence base of assumptions to support analysis and modelling work – as a result it does not reach conclusions on the relative merits of different approaches.

It considers various aspects of a potential hydrogen system for heat and industrial applications:

  • production
  • transmission
  • distribution
  • end use
  • storage
  • carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS)
