This improvement notice was lifted following a report by Ofsted published on 4 September 2023.
This improvement notice requires St Helens Council to take steps to improve its children’s social care services.
It follows a 4 November 2019 report by Ofsted which judged the overall effectiveness of children’s social care services provided by St Helens Council to be inadequate.
The above letter has been issued to St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council. It outlines the principles which the Department for Education has agreed in response to a request for flexibilities from the local authority to enable it to deliver the requirements of its improvement notice, while responding to the challenges of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
