HM Revenue and Customs and the Department for Education jointly commissioned this research to investigate how parents make decisions about childcare to develop communications to increase uptake of 30 hours free childcare and Tax-Free Childcare.

This research was carried out by HMRC’s Behavioural Insights Team, which conducted in-depth interviews with 37 parents and 6 childcare providers across England.
