Details

This data has been published in response to a freedom of information request regarding numbers used in a Low Pay Commission blog post published on 11 September 2023. The original blog post is available here.

This workbook breaks down the number of employee jobs in low-paying (and other) occupations given in Table 1 of the blog post by 4-digit Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code (2020). These job counts should be treated as indicative only. Please note that the data published here do not replace or replicate the ASHE tables published by the ONS, which are designated National Statistics. Users should read the notes included on the NOTES page of the workbook before using.

For consistency with the numbers referenced in the information request, this workbook uses provisional data from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings 2022. For headlines and data from the latest ASHE release, please refer to the ONS website. For the latest analysis of low-paying occupations and industries, please refer to the LPC Report 2023.
