Details

In December 2010 the government published its report on reducing civil engineering costs for major infrastructure projects.

The report identified a number of reasons for the higher cost of construction in the UK compared to other EU countries. It suggested that higher costs are mostly incurred early on in projects and before construction.

Since 2010 IUK has been working to reduce by around 15% the premium paid by the UK for infrastructure.
