Centre for Ageing Better calls on employers to create age friendly workplaces and recognise the benefits older workers can bring to their workplaces as part of a major new partnership with Business in the Community. The partnership aims to identify and test what works to recruit, retrain and retain older workers.
2. The Healthy workplaces for all ages campaign
The Healthy workplaces for all ages campaign was officially launched in Brussels on 15 April – campaign-related events and happenings are starting to take place all across Europe to mark the occasion.

4. Tomorrow’s World: The Future of Ageing in the UK
Using data delivered at the 2015 Future of Ageing conference, the report: Tomorrow’s World: The Future of Ageing in the UK describes the future challenges and opportunities posed by an ageing population.
5. Carers Week
Carers Week (6-12 June) is an annual awareness campaign to celebrate the vital contribution made by the 6.5 million people in the UK who care, unpaid, for a disabled, ill or older family member or friend. For more information see: www.carersweek.org.
6. Carers strategy: call for evidence
The Department of Health consultation How can we improve support for carers? seeks views on a new strategy for carers that will set out how more can be done to support them. The closing date for comments is 30 June 2016.
7. Carers looking to increase their State Pension
A National Insurance credit could increase the amount of State Pension a part-time carer gets – check if you are eligible for Carer’s Credit.
8. Public Health England
Public Health England has launched its Older People’s Health and Wellbeing Profile which can be used to examine the health and care of older people across local authorities.
9. The Cambridgeshire Bobby Scheme
The Cambridgeshire Bobby Scheme secures homes of victims aged 60 and over and non-victims aged 65 and over or disabled residents.

Keeping active into older age is the key to staying fit, mobile and independent. The NHS guide Exercises for older people provides step-by-step instructions for exercises focusing on strength, flexibility and balance, with a set of sitting exercises to get you started.
12. Confront dementia this Dementia Awareness Week
To mark this year’s Dementia Awareness Week (15-21 May), Alzheimer’s Society is encouraging people who are worried about dementia to confront their worries by addressing dementia directly and coming to Alzheimer’s Society for information and support.

14. Walking with Purpose
Why do people with dementia wander?. Wandering can be hugely stressful if you’re caring for a loved one, but it’s actually quite a common issue for people affected by dementia.
15. Care for older people campaign
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) wants to hear from older people, If you are aged 60 or over and receiving care, or a friend or family member of someone who is, they want you to tell us about the care you’ve received, good or bad. Provide feedback to the CQC.
16. Nominate a grass roots charity
Anyone can nominate a grass roots charity that is close to their heart for funding for anything from £50 to £2,000. The current theme is promoting wellbeing through the arts and already awards exceeding £100k have been made. Find out more from the Care UK Wellbeing Foundation.
