These ‘Principles for Global Action’ have been developed with contributions from over 120 experts, governments, non-governmental organisations and civil society. It is a practical guide that aims to raise awareness among policy makers of the challenges, issues and sensitivities of stigma from a survivor’s perspective.

The Principles for Global Action is the primary output of the end stigma campaign thus far following intense collaboration and consultation with the international community. The principles are intended as a useful tool in suggesting potential steps which could be taken such as judicial reform, media standards and monitoring.

Following on from the principles, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office has held 9 stigma workshops so far in conflict affected countries in 2017. The workshops aimed to further understanding of the specific dynamics of the stigma of conflict-related sexual violence on a personal, community and structural level. Non-governmental organisations, United Nations agencies or British diplomats facilitated the workshops and the findings have been compiled into individual country reports.
