Details

David Gauke MP, the Financial Secretary to HM Treasury, has written to the Office of Tax Simplification (OTS) amplifying the announcements in the 2016 Budget about the OTS.

The letter includes an annex with responses to the recommendations in the OTS’s recent Small Companies report.

It gives updates on some previous OTS recommendations, including Class 2 NICs and termination payments and an initial response to the recent report on the closer alignment of income tax and National Insurance contributions.

The letter also discusses the OTS’s role in the business tax roadmap and a potential new OTS project on simplifying the computation of corporation tax.
