This letter was sent to responsible officers in awarding organisations.

In December 2014 Ofqual announced that the Qualifications and Credit Framework regulatory arrangements (QCF rules) would be removed in the summer of 2015. On 11 February 2015 Ofqual sent a letter to awarding organisations explaining the effect the decision to withdraw the QCF rules will have on how Ofqual describe the scope of awarding organisations’ recognition.

This letter invites awarding organisations to review and consider how their recognition is currently described on RITS and whether they want to redefine how that recognition is described to more accurately reflect the qualifications they offer.

The letter also confirms that if awarding organisations wish to redefine the way in which their recognition is described, they should complete and return a Notice of Partial Surrender of Recognition form to Ofqual by the 31 March 2015.

The letter also explains what awarding organisations need to do if they are also regulated by the Welsh Government.
