In July 2018, the Government published the LGBT Action Plan. The four-year plan contained more than 75 commitments aimed at improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. It was created in response to the findings of the National LGBT Survey; which we conducted in 2017 and was the largest domestic survey of LGBT people ever undertaken.

We said we would enable Parliament to play a full role in helping to advance LGBT equality, as part of the Action Plan. This first annual report to the Women and Equalities Select Committee on our progress is part of fulfilling that commitment.
