Details

Seed certification is a quality assurance process which ensures that seeds are sufficiently pure, healthy, viable and correctly labelled. Seeds marketing is regulated and only seeds which have been certified may be marketed.

Seeds must be sampled and tested to confirm whether they meet the standards for certification. This testing should be done by a licensed seed testing station (LSTS).

Stations are licensed under the Plant Varieties and Seeds Act 1964 and the Seed Marketing Regulations. The licence names each species and category of seed which the station is authorised to test.

This form is for seed testing stations to apply for a licence. Please refer to the guidance notes before completing the form.

For further information, see the guide to seed certfication procedures and the brief guide to seed marketing.
