Details

The government made a “digital pledge” backed by up to £7.5 million of government funding in July 2018, to help councils transform their digital services in line with the Local Digital Declaration. The 2018 to 2019 Local Digital Fund prospectus detailed the initial funding plan for exemplar projects and digital skills training for local government. This year’s prospectus confirms the timeline of future rounds of funding and plans to continue the training offer for councils signed up to the Declaration.

Funded projects

16 collaborative projects were funded though the Local Digital Fund in December 2018, spanning 57 partner local authorities across England. They have now delivered their project outputs which have been published openly on the Local Digital website.

Digital skills training

The training offered to signatory councils of the Local Digital Declaration, delivered by GDS Academy, provides working-level and leadership courses in Digital and Agile working. Working-level training has been delivered to over 506 colleagues from 52 councils so far, and over 70 local government leaders have attended the Local Leaders Digital Accelerator course, helping to build the digital capability of leadership in the sector.
