Strong democratic institutions and accountable governments that uphold universal rights and the rule of law are key building blocks for secure and prosperous states. All of this strengthens the rules-based international system and is in the UK’s national interest.

Through legal-parliamentary diplomacy Magna Carta Partnerships will help build professional and institutional relationships and the capability of parliamentarians, judges, lawyers and relevant officials, as part of a long-term patient approach to democratic reform.
