An agreement of the relationship between the Commission and the Big Lottery Fund.

This memorandum of understanding (MoU) sets out how the Commission and the Big Lottery Fund propose to work together, both in coordinating their regulatory operations and formulating the regulatory policy framework within which they work.

It is intended to:

  • promote effective working and communication between the Commission and the Big Lottery Fund
  • promote co-operation between the Commission and Big Lottery Fund’s staff at a strategic and operation level
  • facilitate effective investigation and disclosure of information to prevent, detect and remedy misconduct or mismanagement in the administration of charities or charitable funds
  • ensure appropriate consultation on matters of relevant and significant policy initiatives to ensure that charities fully comply with their legal obligations and adopt best practice in governance and accountability
