This guidance provides general information and advice to companies and their advisers on the merger reporting duty set out by the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (the DMCC Act). The duty to report mergers only applies to SMS firms.

This notice specifies the information that should be included in a SMS mergers report, under the duty set out by the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (the DMCC Act).

The guidance received approval from the Secretary of State for Business and Trade on 17 December 2024 and takes effect from 1 January 2025.
