Summary

This notice lists all the merchant shipping notices, marine guidance notes and marine information notes which provide standards or guidance in respect of UK implementation of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006. It includes amendments published since 2014.

It provides a comprehensive list to reference in order to ensure compliance in all respects of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006. Annex 1 attached separately, summarises the implementing legislation and related notices.

Amendment 2 includes new and amended legislation and guidance published since 2014.

1. Introduction

1.1 The Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC) introduces minimum global standards to promote decent living and working conditions for seafarers.

1.2 The regulations implementing the MLC in the UK are listed in annex 1 attached, together with any merchant shipping notices which contain detailed requirements under those regulations. In addition, those notices contain guidance in support of those regulations and MCA has also produced a series of marine guidance notes and marine information notes to help ensure compliance with all aspects of the MLC. This marine guidance note lists all the merchant shipping notices, marine guidance notes and marine information notes which provide standards or guidance in respect of UK implementation of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006. It includes amendments published since 2014.
