List of medical facilities/practitioners in Myanmar
Updated 9 December 2020
Disclaimer
The following list of medical facilities/practitioners has been prepared by the British Embassy in Yangon for the convenience of British Nationals who may require these services and assistance in Myanmar. It is provided on the understanding that we the British Embassy do not assume or undertake any legal responsibility, to you, or those affected, if you choose to take it into account when instructing a medical facility or practitioner.
Further and alternatively, we cannot accept any liability to any person or company for any financial loss or damage arising from the use of this information or from any failure to give information. Our aim is to provide our customers with as much relevant information to enable them to make better informed decisions but our lists are not recommendations and should not be treated as such.
The hospitals listed under this section are some of the private and government hospitals in Myanmar. It is not a comprehensive list. It is advised to call hospitals or clinics before visiting them to ensure they can take in patients. Due to Covid-19 restrictions might restrict access.
Medical care in Myanmar is below UK standard. This may change in the future however, during Covid-19, access to medical care could be restricted. If possible, British nationals with serious illnesses or injuries should seek medical care abroad. Any foreigner injured in an incident involving a police case will, by law, have to go to the closest government hospital first. They can be transferred to a private facility of their choice once police permission is given.
NB: Most hospitals (government and private) have their own pharmacies. Foreign prescriptions are not accepted. A government hospital will provide equivalent once the customer has been assessed. A patient must register with a private clinic who will provide the nearest option for medication once assessed. Pre-Covid, specific requirements for foreign medicines could be ordered from Bangkok but due to the current restrictions the suppliers cannot transport. Medication is sourced locally with supplies from India and Europe. It is therefore recommended that anyone on regular medication brings sufficient supplies in or is able to have them couriered from the UK.
