This report by the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council (IIAC) recommends a change to the list of prescribed diseases for which people can claim Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit.

The council recommends that the terms of prescribed disease D6(a) now be further broadened to refer to “attendance for work in or about a workplace where wooden goods or wooden products are manufactured or repaired”. Additionally, it recommends that cancer of the nasal cavity or associated air sinuses be recognised in relation to occupational exposure to wood dust in the course of the machine processing of wood.
