Details

The national e-cycles programme was launched as a pilot to gather evidence to inform decisions on future funding. The objectives of the programme were to:

  • accelerate the uptake of e-cycles
  • encourage the replacement of motor vehicle journeys with e-cycle trips

The final evaluation report presents findings on the programme’s implementation, impact on participants and overall value for money.

Data used for the evaluation was collected through a combination of sources, including:

  • qualitative interviews
  • monitoring information
  • participant surveys
  • GPS trackers

The report was prepared in February 2024 by Steer after the pilot ended in December 2023. The national e-cycles programme was funded by the Department for Transport, supported by Active Travel England and delivered by Cycling UK.
