Details
For the first time the National Infrastructure Plan 2013 brings together analysis of the UK’s infrastructure needs across different sectors now and in the future. It articulates the government’s approach, sector by sector, to identifying and delivering the infrastructure that is needed – and the rationale for selecting each of the government’s Top 40 priority investments, providing more detail on the timing, funding and status of each.
The National Infrastructure Plan 2013 sets out new ways in which the government will drive delivery of the Top 40 investments, including a dedicated ‘hot-desk’ in Infrastructure UK where Top 40 project owners can raise issues of concern, special consideration in the planning regime and UK Guarantees Scheme. To contact the hot-desk, please email [email protected]
The plan also sets out a new Major Infrastructure Tracking unit within Infrastructure UK which will allow it to track the progress of each Top 40 investment.
National infrastructure pipeline
The plan is published alongside the most robust, forward-looking infrastructure pipeline to date, which includes more detail than ever before on the status of UK infrastructure projects.
Alongside the plan, the Department for Communities and Local Government has published a consultation reviewing the national infrastructure planning regime. Responses to the discussion paper should be sent to [email protected] by 24 January 2014.
The government has today (31 March 2014) published a methodology note for the estimates of average annual infrastructure investment published in the National Infrastructure Plan 2013.
