Dear Professor Sampson

Thank you for your letter dated 15 March 2022.

As you know from our letter last August, Hikvision UK welcomes the opportunity to meet and discuss our business. In fact, our global team answers policymakers’ questions every day and we are always grateful for the opportunity to meet and share our views. Hikvision is a world leading security product manufacturer with video as its core competency. The company’s mission is to explore innovative ways to make the world safer. We look forward to discussing these issues.

We have offered to meet with you. Respectfully, we have requested that the meeting be private. If you want to have a conversation with us, we welcome it. We will be candid and factual. All we ask is that you keep any commercially sensitive information that we might share out of the media and from anti-Hikvision and anti-China platforms, though your correspondence to Hikvision was already publicised without providing a respectful amount of time to respond.

We had a constructive working relationship with your predecessor based on trust. Neither of us shied away from difficult issues. We collaborated to raise industry standards, including the Secure by Default initiative, which elevated user protections and privacy.

We hope to develop a similar relationship with you and continue our ongoing dialogue, with the ultimate goal of fostering a safe environment in both the UK and abroad.

Justin Hollis Marketing Director
UK & Ireland
