This guidance document has been produced by the National Measurement and Regulation Office (NMRO) certification services to provide infromation, to manufacturers of weighing and measuring instruments regarding the main changes and implications, which will apply with the introduction of new European Directives for weighing and measuring instruments which comes into force on 20 April 2016.

The current European Directives 2009/23/EC for non-automatic weighing instruments (NAWI) and 2004/22/EC for measuring instruments (MID) will be replaced, on 20 April 2016, by European Directives 2014/31/EU and 2014/32/EU respectively, as part of the New legislative framework.

The guidance document also outlines the required actions for organisations that have been issued with EC type examination, or conformity assessment, certificates by NMRO.
