NTE 2024/15: intention to move to LITE public beta in September 2024

Published 8 August 2024

Introduction

We are writing to inform you that on 17 September 2024, we expect that the standard individual export licence (SIEL) service on Licensing for International Trade (LITE) will move to public beta.

This means that the service is now ready to allow any exporter to apply for a SIEL on LITE. This is a big achievement for the LITE programme, and moves us forward from private beta, where the number of exporters using the system was controlled.

A more detailed communication will be sent in early September. This content will include a toolkit to support you using LITE, including frequently asked questions, support videos, and the joining details for public beta webinars run by our LITE team on 12 September and 24 September 2024.

An important aspect of public beta is moving towards all SIEL applications being submitted on LITE instead of SPIRE. Some exporters have already had access to make new SIEL applications on SPIRE removed.

For those who have not yet been onboarded and have continued access to SPIRE, we will be in touch separately to confirm when your SIEL access in SPIRE will be removed. Rest assured that once you have been onboarded, any of your historic or current SPIRE applications will still be available for you to access.

Some exceptions may apply to certain exporters due to an incompatible functionality with LITE, but we will communicate with these exporters individually to update you when the necessary functionality will be ready on LITE.

Please note that SPIRE is still live and all other non-SIEL applications should continue to be applied for on SPIRE, for the time being.

To ensure a smooth transition from SPIRE to LITE, we kindly ask that you update your contact details on SPIRE. This is essential to ensure that you receive all important communications from us.

If you have any questions, or any feedback on applying for SIELs on LITE, please contact: LITE[email protected].
