NTE 2024/23: changes to contacting ECJU operations

Introduction

Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU), working with colleagues in other government departments (OGDs), considers each application in chronological order. We strive to conclude as many cases as possible within our primary target of 70% of cases in 20 days, or secondary target of 99% of cases in 60 days.

In an effort to maintain these service levels, ECJU is taking steps to modernise our processing practises. This coincides with the move to our new licencing platform LITE. As part of this modernisation, all enquires will now be routed through a centrally managed mailbox and phone number. This means that Licensing Unit’s direct contact details will no longer be available. This will ensure we are able to respond to queries efficiently and effectively, avoiding for example delays to responses due to individuals being on leave or unavailable.

Our aim is for your contact with ECJU to be consistent and efficient, while enabling case officers to focus on progressing applications. We are unlikely to prioritise responding to follow-up correspondence for applications which are within our primary target of 20 working days. Once cases are more than 20 working days old ECJU will be happy to help you with an update on progress.

This change takes effect from 1 October 2024.
