IIAC commissioned the Institute of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of Birmingham to carry out this review to:

  • identify if there is an increased risk of cancer amongst commercial painters against the general population
  • help IIAC to consider whether occupational cancer in commercial painters should be recommended for inclusion in the list of prescribed diseases for which Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit is payable
