Details

These documents support the National Dental Epidemiology Programme (NDEP) biennial oral health survey of 5 year olds.

There is an oral health online resource that provides all the necessary support materials for field workers to carry out oral health surveys.

Surveys of this age group provide an insight into dental health and associated child-rearing practices at an important life stage. The findings of these surveys provide comparable details of caries levels and other clinical measures at local authority level. This informs decisions by local authorities, the NHS and other partners.

The results are a Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) indicator, reported as an item on the Single Data List and classified as Official Statistics.
